Response to Crevecour

I believe Crevecour’s definition of an American will always be true. He stated complete facts that aren’t going to change soon; America is the land of the free, which is why this country is so diverse. Many people leave their native lands for a chance at a more promising life, and they come to America. These immigrants all have different reasons for leaving, but no matter the reason, they all see America as a brighter future. America is their safe haven, more safe and equal than their own native land. America is welcoming, like the comfort of your grandmother’s arms. Immigrants work hard to earn what was neglected from them, such as food, clothing, shelter, and money. Most importantly, they leave so their children and generations of grandchildren could have an easier life. They try to become successful and show their children what success looks like. This motivates them be wealthy instead of poor and less fortunate like their parents had to be. This happened 100 years ago, and is still happening today; Crevecour was correct in his definition of America.
